Personal

Join me as I share the most meaningful and special parts of my life journey. I’d love for you to be part of this adventure!

Hi everyone. I’m so happy to have you join me on my personal blog page adventure and share with you all the most important aspects of my life!

Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I was born and raised on the Island Province of Newfoundland, Canada where I went to an all grade school that joined several different communities, including my island community of Allan’s Island. My childhood was filled with so much love from my family and friends and lots of Atlantic adventures with my dad. Newfoundland bay communities thrived on the fishing industry so there were many times I spent hours on the ocean hauling lobster and crab pots, squid jigging, and cod fishing. But my favorite thing of all was kayaking and boating when the icebergs and whales would migrate in to our waters. I find it hard to describe the feeling of seeing a large, white, glistening tower the size of a factory in front of you while the humpback whales and curious seals surface next to you in what feels like the most insignificant little vessel – breathtaking! This was the beginning of my adventurous spirit and lifelong journey to see as much of the world as possible.

After graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy, I received an entrance scholarship to Memorial University in St. John’s city where I began to study science. It wasn’t long when I began to feel very unsettled and needed a change. I soon went to explore the west of Canada where I fell in love with the mountains, then to the United States to help teach kids with learning disabilities. After returning to Newfoundland, I decided to get back out in the workforce and entered into the Hospitality Industry. Although this industry was not where I imagine myself, it helped me grow in so many ways I will be forever grateful for and gave me incredible independence to become the woman I wanted to be. I met so many people throughout that journey – some I will never forget and some I will try to – but all of them taught me a valuable lesson in some form or another.

Over the years I did more traveling – which I get into more on my Travel Blog – and eventually transferred my credits from Memorial University to graduate with Tourism and Hospitality Management from their corresponding College of the North Atlantic and graduate with Front End Web Development from The British Columbia Institute of Technology. I continue to work in the hospitality industry and currently enjoy my seasonal work on fishing lodges in Northern Canada where I can enjoy my roots and connect with Mother Nature in every way possible. After my lodge work in 2026 I will start a new, exciting career as Food Services Assistant Manager for The Compass Group and see where my new journey leads me.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to get to know me. As you probably are all aware at this point, I am a nature enthusiast with a great respect for wildlife.
